The Art of being Sacked - Department of Social Services (DSS)

Department of Social Services (2020) was a pretty good outfit (apart from having multiple databases). I wasn't there very long but I did manage to do some importing, of records, retention schedules and Classifications, across various databases. I migrated them to the AFDA Express V2. I sentenced thousands of records. I learnt their systems and processes. I knew I was well received by Laurie Goldie (my Supervisor) and Gay Begnell (Colleague), as we were making in-roads into the tasks at hand and I had the skills to do it. I also saw myself as a longer term prospect to pick up the reins on DSS's paper records. I did work with Anna (French last name), who was more the traditional archivist, and knew the history of DSS's paper records and how they hung together in TRIM. I was learning that, she said her memory was starting to go.

I got home one night in October 2020, and my Contracting Company contacted me and told me my contract had been terminated effective immediately for making a false declaration. Do not go back to work.

The false declaration was not a false declaration though. It was my declaration, not ASADA's. ASADA said I did something, I said I did not. Also, what are they doing checking on Declarations?

2 days later I received an email from Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) telling me my Security Clearances have been ceased.

Once again, they didn't talk to me either, to find out what was really true.
